Suncoast Community High School
Nationally recognized as a high school of excellence, Suncoast Community High School opened four outstanding magnet programs in 1989: IB-International Baccalaureate, MSE-Mathematics, Science & Engineering, CS-Computer Science, and the IDP-Interdisciplinary Program.
Funding from the Executive Women of the Palm Beaches, HSM McGladrey, Inc. and the Suncoast Foundation brought Suncoast students and faculty to meet Dr. Mae Jemison, the first Black female astronaut in 2006.
Suncoast’s IB program is ranked third in the Americas and sixth in the world by the International Baccalaureate Organization. Newsweek magazine ranked Suncoast fifth in their annual top 100 high schools in America. The school is ranked 6th in Florida, based on FCAT scores.
Suncoast students place in national and international competition in science fair, Academic Games, SECME Competition, and FIRST Robotics Competition. They attend the top colleges in the nation, including Ivy League and the Traditionally Black Colleges.
